Why Youth Development Matters!

Inspired by the Spark and Thriving study by the Search Institue, we understand that the development of young minds is crucial for building a better future.

We believe that every young person has unique talents, dreams, and aspirations. Our Youth Development Programs are dedicated to creating an environment where these talents can flourish, and these dreams can be realized, and where everyone can find their SPARK.

We Are One United Approach to Youth Development

We Are One United is passionate about nurturing the potential of our young generation. Our youth programs are designed to foster personal growth, skill development, and positive engagement for children and teenagers.

Meet Billy, our Youth Development specialist

Billy's passion for learning started early, evident in his leadership roles in middle and high school, such as heading the "Natural Helpers" counseling program and holding multiple positions in D.E.C.A. and the business academy. Engaging in programs like ASB and JTPA, he explored digital arts, filmmaking, journalism, and interviewing. As a member of the high school news team, Billy developed teamwork and leadership skills.

Billy has earned both a bachelor's and master's degree, dedicating his time to community service, guiding youth, and creating educational programs. Billy's impact extends globally through years of volunteering in Ethiopia, working with both youth and adults.

campus Connect at raymond Cree Middle School

Campus Connect: Building Bridges, Fostering Success

One of our flagship initiatives is the "Youth Friday Club: Campus Connect." This program is all about bridging the gap between the community, families, and students. The program was developed thanks to a cooperation with Jody Diaz - Assistant Principal from Ryamond Cree Middle School in Palm Springs.

Our Goals:

Engagement and Relationship Building: Every Friday, WAOU team engages with local students. We participate in fun and educational activities that encourage positive interactions and the development of strong relationships.

Observing and Learning: We take the time to understand the needs, aspirations, and challenges of the students. Our goal is to create an environment where they feel heard, supported, and motivated to excel.

Skill Development: We believe that strong relationships are fundamental to student success. By building these connections, we provide a safe and supportive space where students can develop essential life skills, including problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.

WAOU Parent meeting

WAOU Parent meeting: Preparing a Generation for Victory

Parent Meeting is a community-driven program by We Are One United. It provides parents and caregivers with a safe platform to share insights, ideas, and recommendations for local youth programs. Our goal is to engage parents in shaping the future of youth services, offering a unique space to express their experiences, concerns, and aspirations.

The feedback we gather during these meetings is essential for enhancing and customizing local youth programs to better serve our community's children. WAOU Parent Meetings are organized before the new school year and serve as a valuable resource for shaping positive youth development in Greater Palm Springs.
